Sêfk-èmî Bî (/lɒŋ/ /ˈèmɪ/ [] [dairy]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Nêndënkîte Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name Sêfk-èmî Bî is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Sêfk-èmî Bî was founded by Zesí Trepîbrë, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

Sêfk-èmî Bî has a yearly average temperature of 24°C (75°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 31°C (87°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 17°C (62°F). Sêfk-èmî Bî receives an average of 255 cm/y (100 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Sêfk-èmî Bî covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1992 m (6535 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Sêfk-èmî Bî was founded durring the late 17th century in late winter of the year 1584, by Zesí Trepîbrë. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Sêfk-èmî Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the late 17th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Sêfk-èmî Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Sêfk-èmî Bî is buildings are built arround a single narrow cobblestone mainstreet which forms a counterclockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town is protected by a renforced stone fence which sits atop earthwork defences, for some of the best inexpencive defences a town of Sêfk-èmî Bî's size could have. Unfortuantly, these well-designed, yet cheep are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

Sêfk-èmî Bî has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Sêfk-èmî Bî ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Likely due to this, Sêfk-èmî Bî is, in a word, disorder. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to have homes. One cannot help but wonder what Sêfk-èmî Bî was like during the glorydays.

Civic Infrastructure

Sêfk-èmî Bî possesses a city-wide Aethary Link which provides Aethary access anywhere within its metropolitan. This allows citizens who can afford the relevant devices access in their places of work, and rarely homes.

Sêfk-èmî Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Sêfk-èmî Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Sêfk-èmî Bî's parks.

Sêfk-èmî Bî has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Sêfk-èmî Bî.

Sêfk-èmî Bî has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Sêfk-èmî Bî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Sêfk-èmî Bî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Sêfk-èmî Bî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Sêfk-èmî Bî possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Sêfk-èmî Bî's grid is powered by mana accumulators.

Sêfk-èmî Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Sêfk-èmî Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

Sêfk-èmî Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Sêfk-èmî Bî has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

There’s more than one leader in Sêfk-èmî Bî, but at least some of them are at each other’s throats. It might be a conflict between formal leadership and informal authorities, or it could be a struggle among civil officials. Their interests might diverge sharply, or it could be a personal grudge that’s boiled over. Outside threats and internal problems are likely being ignored until the power struggle is resolved.

Sêfk-èmî Bî's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..
